The Tower

by Richard Paul Evans

The Tower is a book about how a young man desires to be great. He believes he will achieve this goal when everyone the village looks up to him. So he constructs a wooden tower that reaches to the clouds, but then he becomes lonely.

One day a passing bird tells him he knows of a women that is greater than he.So he descends from his tower to find this poor woman feeding a flock of birds. She shares with him wisdom "that to be great is not to be higher than another but to lift another one higher." Only when he finds a child sitting in a tree alone apart from the other younger men saying I wish to be like the men that sits in the tower high above the clouds.

The moral of this story is that anyone can be great by helping others and to help some one else and not to be selfish and study about yourself.

I lke this book because it teaches a lesson and it shows how you can have humility yourself and others.

The Rip-Offs
by Tana Reiff

First, a woman named Wendy Kim enjoyed her job at the Big Mart store. She was from South Korea. She lived there with her parents three years ago. To her Big Mart is like a new world. The rows and rows of brand-new things like the computers, cash registers--everything was still like magic to Wendy. She worked in the clothes department. She took new clothes out of boxes.
Next, a woman named Paulette was walking toward Wendy and she was carrying her handbag over her arm. Wendy saw Paulette stuff a blouse into her handbag. When Wendy told Paulette that she saw what she did Paulette said,"Let me tell you something, sometimes you are like a little child. You always do right. And thats great. But the fact of the matter is, everybody takes something from the store now and then. So I'm not so wrong. You know Scott up at the service desk? He takes home paper and paper clips and other office stuff."

Last, Wendy said nothing to anyone about Paulette. But the matter stayed on her mind. Then one day she was on break in the lunch room with Tina. Tina worked at the check out. She ran a cash register. She and Scott went out with each other. Tina told Wendy that she bought scott a gold ring.Tina also told Wendy that she gets paid more money than her because she work up front on the cash register. Tina told Wendy that she takes money from the cash register. Tina says that because when the count comes up too high that is what makes things come out even.

Conclusion, When you steal from people, nothing good can come from it. So the moral of this story should be "stealing is bad."

The Honest To Goodness Truth
by Patrica McKissack

This story is mainly about Libby telling a lie, another things is that the book is about telling you to tell the honest goodness, and another reason is never tell a lie because you will pay.

A lesson I learned from this book is to tell the truth all the time because if you are never get away with telling a lie.

I have been in Libby's situation before, when I told someone that did not do there homework and they did not like me the rest of the year.

I recommend the truth because it is the better thing to tell and if you tell a lie you are most likely going to get in trouble.

I recommend that the illustrator draws better in his next book because the pictures were pretty ugly, and he does not draw the pictures in chalk.

The Honest To Goodness Truth
by Patricia C. McKissack

I like this book because when Libby had "said" sorry to all the people that she had been mean to. The reason Libby said sorry is because she had hurt 3 people.

In this book of the month I learned that never to lie to my Mom because I might get in trouble and if I had told the truth I want have to remember what I said.

I could put myself in Libby's place because I have lied to my Mom and I have hurt my friends’ feelings too.

Yes, I recommend the truth because I have heard many people tell the truth and many people tell a lie!

I recommend this book because I would like for kids to read it over and over again to learn how to read more.

The Honest To Goodness Truth
by Patricia McKissack

The story is about a girl named Libby who told a lie to her Mother. Her Mother made her tell the truth. The story also is about when Libby told the truth about her friends but it hurt their feelings so they didn't want to be her friend.

I learned a lesson from the story. Also I lied to my Mother so I learned not to lie. I also learned that the truth will set you free. I learned not to lie to your mother when she asks you did you do something. I also learned to always tell the truth.

I have been in a bad situation like Libby because I lied to my Mother. The lie just slipped out like warm butter. My Mom was upset.

I recommend the truth, because if you don't tell the truth you will get in trouble. The truth will get you everywhere. If you tell a lie you might have to do chores.

I recommend a person that lies read this book, because he can learn a lesson. Lying is not good.

About 6 weeks, a little dinosaur was born. The hen was upset, because even the hen was surprised at this thing in the nest. Confused about how to be a mother to this thing, the hen tried as best she could and the dinosaur learned to follow the other hens by scratching for worms too.

As time passed, the dinosaur became a family pet and was named, Uncle Beazley. But then, the dinosaur got so big, the boy couldn't keep him on the farm. So they sent him to the National Zoo in Washington, DC.

The Wagon by Tony Johnston

The story is about a little boy who was born on a Carolina Plantation. The little boy's name is never mentioned; the name of the little boy's family nor the master was mentioned either.

In this story, the master asked the little boy's father to build a wagon to make it easier to haul supplies from the market to the plantation. The master told the little boy's father, he could borrow two of his mules (Swing and Low) to pull the wagon when they go to the market. The little boy was so excited about getting a chance to leave the plantation for once, he helped his father build the wagon. You see, working on the plantation and never doing anything else became boring to the little boy. So the idea of leaving the plantation was exciting.

After the wagon was finished, a few visits to the market, and getting a little taste of what it was like to leave the plantation, the little boy got this idea that this wagon would one day take him to freedom. That day came.

Slaves were given their freedom by President Lincoln (who was later killed). The master didn't like the idea of letting his slaves go, but he gave the wagon and mules to the boy's family so they wouldn't have to walk where they were going. So the little boy and his family left the plantation on the wagon he and his father built.

The little boy and his family didn't know exactly where they were going to end up, but they knew they had to get to Washington to attend Lincoln's funeral.

The End.
